The April 2005 controlled burn at Johnathan Dickinson State Park uncovered this roll of  #10 bare copper wire, later found to weigh 115 lbs. I discovered it next to a long-abandoned trail that parallels the railroad tracks, about 0.4 mile north of the main park road RR crossing. My guess is that it had been lying there since Camp Murphy was dismantled after WWII.

A week later we return with a plan to retrieve the treasure.

Right about here the park rangers drove up to tell us we weren't allowed on the roadbed. Pamela engaged them in conversation while I leaned against my bike looking lost. La-de-da, la-de-dum.... Then they drove right by me and never noticed the roll of wire, can you believe it?

More than 3600 feet of copper wire - an experimenter's dream!
